Create Your Wellness Routine

Can you believe it? The year is half over! As we roll into the second half of summer, it wont be long before school starts and time to get back into a normal schedule.  I find that this is a good time to do a quick health check.

Now is a good time to reconnect with the health goals you may have made at the first of the year.

Perhaps you have gotten off your schedule of wellness or you are looking to start a new one for the last half of the year. Whatever the case, I recommend having a wellness plan in place and start making you health a priority again.

Whenever you value something and feel its important, you make sure its a part of your life. It has a place in your daily routine and it becomes top priority.  Whether its going to work, planning activities with kids or grandkids or spending time with friends and loved ones, when you are feeling your best, more things seem achievable.

Time to take a look at how you look and feel and commit to making some positive health changes to help you feel younger, active and more mobile. It can be easy for your health and well being to slip away when you are not paying attention to it. Its not hard to get distracted by other things you feel are more important for the time being.

But when you think about it, what can be more important than your health?

Sure, you can have great wealth, freedom and time but if your health is suffering from sickness, arthritis or disease, enjoying life's “riches” is difficult or short-lived. Start with your health first!!!

Just because you are aging, doesn't mean you have to get old! Yes, it may be a little more work to maintain that youthful look and feel, but adding into your daily life some regular wellness activities will surely help the aging process feel slower and certainly more fun.

First of all, appreciate exactly where you are currently with your health.

Appreciate how you feel today... your current state of health. Decide if you would like to feel better and then start taking your steps to wellness today!   First, have a plan. Then start it. Be consistent and stay with it. No matter how old you are or how old you may feel, you can make improvement in your health! You just have to start somewhere.

Remember to add a few of these important health tips to your routine as you go along your health journey.

  • Eat out a bit less. Buy fresh foods from the local farmers market. Learn some new healthy recipes to try.
  • Say no to some of those tempting sugary treats you may like so much. Replace them with delicious fruits and vegetable that you enjoy.
  • Say no to soda and hello to drinking more purified clean water.{Preferably Ionized alkaline eater). Make a goal to drink half your weight in ounces of water every day.
  • Take time 4-5 days a week and go for a brisk walk.
  • Include some stretching in your daily routine. Just a few minutes of gentle stretching can greatly improve flexibility as well as mobility mobility. Try taking yogaor stretching class.
  • If you are feeling emotionally stressed out or overloaded, try talking to a friend or loved one. Just communicating your anxieties can start reducing stress immediately. Consult a local emotional wellness specialist if need be.
  • Try some new activities that you may have been wanting to try. Bring a friend along for company and to help with accountability.
  • Keep your mind active with regular games that stimulate the brain and other mind challenging activities. Crosswords, cards, dominoes or any activity you enjoy that stimulates your thinking.
  • If it has been awhile since your last chiropractic check up, then get in and do some preventative maintenance on your body. When your spine is aligned, the posture improves, you have moire flexibility and less pain.
  • Get out in nature and take in some deep cleansing breaths. Full your lungs with fresh oxygen to nourish your entire body.
  • Count your blessings. Reflect on all there is to be grateful for. When you are grateful for what you have you get more things to be grateful for. Gratitude for your life is the biggest healthy aging activity you can do. Don’t let a day go by without counting your blessing.
